Reading the headlines is not that easy. Every time I turn the TV on and see the news, I am saddened by what I see each passing week. I wish everyone could just open their hearts and be accepting of the fact that every human being is different and unique and beautiful in their own way. I am not different from you; we all have the same systems and blood flowing through our veins.

At least 5 dead is so shocking.

Why do you hate me so much?

I’ve never met you but resent you so much you take my life for no reason.

What have I ever done to you?

It actually took me days to conjure enough courage and will and desire to complete this article. I am heartbroken by the current happenstance. I can’t believe in this darn age someone with all their senses will voluntarily kill another because of their sexual orientation. This basically takes us back to the stone age basically.

Homophobia is such a plague especially in recent days with everyone actings woke. When such bad act happens perpetrated against people of this community, this leads to fear

These negative beliefs and actions can affect the physical and mental health of gay, bisexual, and other people, whether they seek and are able to get health services, and the quality of the services they may receive. Such barriers must be addressed at different levels of society, such as healthcare settings, workplaces, and schools to improve the well-being of LGBTQ+ people throughout their lives.

Homophobia, stigma, and discrimination can be especially hard for young people who are gay, bisexual, and other people. These negative attitudes increase their chance of experiencing violence, especially compared with other straight people. Violence can include behaviors such as bullying, teasing, harassment, physical assault, and suicide-related behaviors.

There are multiple ways that intersectionality impacts the mental health of LGBTQ people. For example, LGBTQ people may experience other forms of marginalization — such as racism, sexism, poverty, or other factors — alongside homophobia or transphobia that negatively impact mental health. Additionally, an individual with a mental health condition who is also an LGBTQ person may face added challenges in accessing mental health services that are appropriate and inclusive and may face discrimination on the basis of both disability and sexual orientation.

This is just a plea to all my people, let’s be kind to each other and treat each other with love. Whether you are gay or straight, you can help reduce homophobia, stigma, and discrimination in your community and decrease the negative health effects. Even small things can make a difference, such as supporting a family member, friend, or co-worker.
