The Power of Affirmations

“The positive thinker sees the invisible, feels the intangible, and achieves the impossible.” The power of positive affirmations starts simply by professing a few words.

An affirmation opens the door. It’s a beginning point on the path to change. In essence, you’re saying to your subconscious mind: “I am taking responsibility. I am aware that there is something I can do to change.” When I talk about doing affirmations, I mean consciously choosing words that will either help eliminate something from your life or help create something new in your life.

Affirmations have to be things YOU believe in. This is not the time to plagiarize. If you are not really into a minimal lifestyle, don’t create affirmations about living in a sparsely filled tent, however cool that may sound on paper.

While some may consider this wishful thinking, countless happy and successful people swear by the power of a positive attitude, and the way that positive self-statements can help you radiate positive energy and manifest success.

Affirmations are typically not about the process but describe the result. Your affirmation describes the ideal future-state, but the language is altered to indicate the present state.

  • I’m going to be a millionaire — Incorrect
  • I’m a millionaire — Correct
  • “I am confident and capable.”
  • “I can achieve anything I set my mind to.”
  • “I am loved and supported.”
  • “I am happy and healthy.”
  • Happiness is everywhere I choose to see it.
  • My future is full of light and laughter.
  • I am at peace with my past.
  • I will not ruin a good today by thinking about a bad day yesterday.
  • I’m hereby make the rest of my life the best of my life.
  • I accept happiness into every moment of the day.
  • I am worthy of feeling happy.
  • My happiness comes from within.
  • I will find joy in everything I do.
  • I share my happiness with others.
  • I will follow my joy all the way to my best life.
  • My inner joy is the source of all the good in my life.

The power of positive affirmations starts simply. Choose one (or several) affirmations from this list, or create your own, and try repeating them to yourself every day for ten days — for starters.

Whenever you feel yourself descending into negative self-talk, rewind and rephrase your sentence. Be patient and kind with yourself, and you’re sure to reap all the goodness you have coming to you.

Thank you for reading and have a great time.
